LUKE Allen believes Henley Hawks will have a clearer picture of their play-off prospects after this weekend’s home clash against Taunton Titans.

The south Oxfordshire side are only three points behind second-placed Canterbury with ten games remaining in National League 2 South.

Head coach Allen has played down Henley’s hopes of challenging for the division’s sole play-off spot for the majority of the season.

But with fourth-placed Hawks hosting Taunton, who sit third, the picture could become clearer.

He said: “Taunton are a team that seem to get the best out of us.

“We’ll have to perform well to beat them, they’ve had a similar season to us.

“They’re a dangerous side with a strong pack and decent backs and if we give them space they will punish us.

“We’ll need a massive investment from the players to get another win.

“This match will give us a good indication of where we’re at this year.”

Hawks make five changes, three positional.

Ben Bolster moves to fly-half in place of the injured Roddy Giles, which means Leo Webb is switched to full-back and loanee Greg Goodfellow is handed a start at scrum-half.

In the pack, captain Sam Lunnon moves to open-side flanker, with Ross Parkins returning in the second row.

Matt Williams is calling on injury-hit Chinnor to dig deep when they host Rotherham Titans in National League 1.

The Thame-based side head into the fixture on the back of their heaviest defeat of the season at Bishop’s Stortford.

Dan George and Joe Dancer have also joined an already busy treatment room, while Orisi Nawaqaliva and Connor Tupai are both unavailable, and Reon Joseph is ill.

Jack O’Connell and Jared Saunders are handed starts in the front row after arriving on loan from Ealing Trailfinders and London Scottish respectively.

Jack Gilding, Cameron Gray, Tom Burns, Ed Hoadley, Danny Barnes and Josh Hodson return, with Craig Holland switching to fly-half.

Director of rugby Williams is looking for a reaction.

He said: “I’m not going to blame the result on the situation we find ourselves in at the minute because, while it’s incredibly difficult, there were enough senior players on the pitch to stand up.

“In my five years at the club I’ve never experienced anything quite like this, but we still need to be able to rally round and become tighter.

“It’s a case of rolling the sleeves up and fighting through together.

“What makes us a great club is the culture of our squad and it’s very easy to have a good culture while everything is going for you.

“It’s now about how we deal with adversity and the situation we’re in.

“All I’m looking for from the boys is 100 per cent and I won’t have any issues with the final result if they do that.”
