DAVE Simms was in magnificent form as he clanged off 15 dolls (4-5-6) for The New Club as they came away from local rivals Garsington Sports with all three points, writes Andy Beal.
They won all three legs 26-24, 30-25, 27-22. Barry Ruffels top scored for Garsington with 13 dolls (4-5-4).
Kevin Stuart’s sensational form continues when he hit 14 dolls (5-3-6) for the second week running, however it was all in vain as Littlemore British Legion lost to The White House 2-1.
White House set and won the opening leg 30-27, and in the second leg, chasing a set of 26, they left anchorman Mick Phipps needing five to win, and he was up to the task, clanging off the winning doll with his final stick to give them a 2-0 lead. In the final leg, Legion set and won 27-25. Rob Bradford was top dog for White House with 14 dolls (5-5-4).

The Catherine Wheel stunned North Leigh FC by claiming all three points at home in a close contest. Setting all three legs, The Wheel won the opener 19-18 and had to rely on a three-stick shoot-out in the second leg after it was tied 23-23. They then completed the whitewash in the final leg 22-19.
In Section Two, Black Horse B’s solid start to the season continued when they had to come from behind to beat visitors Duke of Monmouth 2-1. The opening leg was tied 16-16 with the Duke winning the leg on three sticks. Black Horse levelled in the next leg 23-18 and then galloped over the line in the final leg 17-15.
Bletchington Sports are still seeking their first win when they lost 3-0 at home to Ampleforth Arms A, however the scores were much closer than the scoreline suggests.
The first leg Ampleforth set with 16, and in reply Bletchington left anchorman Walter Harwood needing five to win, and he nearly pulled it off, but fell one short with four to send it to three-sticks, which Ampleforth won.
A set of 13 by the Sports was not enough in the second leg as Ampleforth sneaked past that with 15. The final leg was another tight one with Ampleforth setting and just winning it by the odd doll 19-18.
Masons Arms A struggled at home to Seacourt Bridge with some inconsistent throwing over the three legs. Chasing a set of 17 in the opening leg they could only muster up a reply of 10.
Chasing a set of 13 in the second leg, Masons more than doubled their first leg score with 21 to level the game. In the final and deciding leg, Seacourt set again this time with 17, and this time, Masons dropped a doll a man to end up with a total of 13 to give Seacourt their first win of the season.
