LEE Evans is confident he can beat anyone after qualifying for the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) Pro Tour for two years.

Carterton Social Club’s Evans secured his place during the PDC’s qualifying school last month.

Following strong performances on the PDC Challenge Tour, a series of competitions spanning across a year for those who don’t qualify for the main tour, Evans put himself in pole position to earn places in several Pro Tour competitions last year as a replacement player.

“As long as there’s nothing stopping me, I’ll be going to every event I can,” he said.

“The UK Open is one I’m looking forward to again as it’s the only major I’ve played in and it’s been a few years since I’ve been there.

“Some mates have asked me in the past to go to the World Championships with them and I’ve always said I’m not going until I play there.

“Reaching the Worlds or winning a major is always what you want but I’m just hoping to go up there and win, and get into the big events.

“Qualifying school is tough, there were a lot of top players who didn’t really pick up any points but I know on my day I can beat anyone and I hope I can bring that into playing the likes of van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price and Peter Wright.

“I’ve played most of them before and beat some of them before, so there’s no reason why I can’t again.”
