ELEANOR Perks did Witney and District Swimming Club proud at the national championships.

The teenager was competing alongside swimmers who have represented their country as she took part in the British Championships, which doubled up as trials for this summer’s Commonwealth Games.

Perks achieved season’s-best times in the 100m and 200m breaststroke as she rose to the challenge at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.

The youngster was 29th in the 14 to 17-year-old age group for the shorter event, clocking a time of 1min 15.69secs.

She was 36th in her category for the 200m, finishing in 2.44.12.

The British Championships is the flagship domestic meet for the sport and takes place every year.
