JORDAN Flynn’s return was worth the wait as he beat experienced fighter Lee Connelly.

The Cowley boxer overcame his Derbyshire opponent on points in front of a noisy crowd at The Deco Theatre, Northampton.

The bout was originally going to be four rounds, only for it to get upped to six the day before.

But Flynn stayed composed to come out on top and make it three wins from three professional fights.

He said: “I’d say it was my best performance.

“I’m definitely getting better and getting more suited to the professional side of things.

“I rocked him a few times, but I didn’t want to go crazy.”

Connelly had drawn with 2018 Commonwealth featherweight champion Ryan Doyle a week earlier and was competing in his 75th professional bout.

Flynn, meanwhile, last fought in September 2020 and was watched by a crowd for the first time since 2019.

He expects to box again before the end of the year.
