EDDIE Pepperell missed the cut by one shot at the Spanish Open.

The Abingdon golfer was two-under par at the halfway stage at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, but it was not enough to extend his stay.

Pepperell tied for 17th at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship a week earlier and he picked up where he left off.

Three birdies in his first seven holes put him in a great position, although he did bogey the sixth and 16th.

Starting at the tenth, the Frilford Heath member’s second round went the other way as he bogeyed the 12th and 14th.

He birdied two of the next three holes but a bogey at the second proved costly, despite picking up two more shots.
