DOMINIC Matthews has been appointed head coach of Oxford’s senior men’s teams.

The influential fly half will continue to play, having gained experience with Newent, Royal Holloway, Lydney and Monmouth.

He has coached at all age groups through his career, while he is also the sports master at Magdalen College School.

John Brodley, Oxford’s chairman, said: “Dom is the perfect coach to take the senior men’s teams forward at this stage in our club development.

“He is a young, enthusiastic coach full of modern ideas which will challenge the players.

“His link with Magdalen College School continues a long association the club has had with that institution and will help in his interactions with our commercial partners and the wider club membership.”

While the club is closed due to coronavirus measures, Matthews is busy putting together his support team and plans for the start of next season.
