KARL Robinson has revealed Oxford United's players were shown a montage of clips from across the season to help prepare them last night.

The U's ran out 5-0 winners against AFC Wimbledon to get back on track, having won once in the previous eight Sky Bet League One games.

Robinson was wary it could have been a difficult evening at the Kassam Stadium, so got his backroom staff to compile images and video of highlights going back to last summer.

He said: "I felt it might have been flat.

"We knew the rain was coming and it could be one those nights where you think ‘come on, we have to go again’.

VIDEO: Highlights from Oxford United's win against AFC Wimbledon

"We’ve had some fantastic evenings here and we needed another one of those West Ham nights and they certainly gave me it."

He added: "There were pictures from pre-season and running on the beach in Portugal and on the athletics track where Roger Bannister did the four-minute mile (at Iffley Road).

"We were going through all of the things we did in the build-up to the season.

"The West Ham game was in there, the Lincoln game was in there.

"We showed them how far we’ve come as a group of people.

"Regardless of whatever happens this season I’m so proud of these players and I’m proud to be manager of Oxford United, only because of the support they give us when things aren’t going right.

"We get there will be criticism, but the big thing is how people stick together and my players were great.

"I think you could have put anybody on that pitch (against us) and not many would have coped with that."

Matty Taylor, who scored twice, felt it had helped.

He said: "Every season is gruelling with lots of ups and downs.

"I think it put things into perspective.

"I wasn’t here for pre-season but we saw all the effort the lads have put in from the start.

"You saw the amount we’ve travelled and there’s still a lot of travelling to do.

"We don’t want to waste the last little bit of the season.

"We just want to keep playing like we did tonight and hopefully we can have more victories like that."
