RICKY Khan is backing Chinnor to end an unwanted record at Bishop’s Stortford tomorrow.

The Thame-based side head to Hertfordshire looking to regroup after last Friday’s National League 1 defeat at home to Rams saw them slip to fifth in the table.

Chinnor are yet to win at Silver Leys in five attempts, but backs coach Khan believes they can put that to bed.

“They’re very strong at home and they’re a little bit of a bogey team for us at times,” he said.

“But having beaten them at our place (32-29) we’ll be going there with a lot of momentum to say ‘Ok, let’s try to get a result at theirs which we’ve never done before’, so that should be motivation in itself.”

A seven-match unbeaten run had helped Chinnor close the gap to the top three, but two defeats in their last three games have left them 12 points behind leaders Richmond.

Khan said: “It was massively disappointing to lose against Rams.

“It’s disappointing to lose any game, but especially a derby when they had beaten us at their place in injury time.

He added: “The boys will need a little bit of picking up and they’ve probably done that already having Saturday and Sunday to refresh themselves and refocus.

“I think we’ll be ok, they’re professional lads and we’re looking at the next job now.”

In National League 2 South, Henley Hawks visit Worthing as they begin a crunch period of games.

Tomorrow’s match is followed by another tricky clash at Redruth, before Henley host leaders Tonbridge Juddians – who are just a point above them – on February 1.

Will Janes starts at full back in place of George Wood, while prop Rory Mason comes in for Charlie Hughes.

The England women’s team will train with Hawks at Dry Leas on Tuesday at 6.30pm, with spectators welcome.

Oxford Harlequins have named an unchanged line-up for their trip to Sherbone in South West 1 East.

The only changes are positional, with Ed Yeates moving to fly half, Martin Nutt at centre and Matt Henderson shifting to the wing.

Witney’s visit to High Wycombe in Southern Counties North doubles up as the first round of the RFU Intermediate Cup.

Carl Campbell replaces Jake Edwards, while Simon Morris and Ollie Toner return.

Southern Counties South leaders Grove travel to Walcot, with Ben Lloyd-Jones, George Hook, Kieran Lambourn and Ali McCarthy all coming in to the XV.
