BANBURY United manager Mike Ford has warned against any complacency when they travel to basement boys Leiston tomorrow.

Banbury are flying high in the BetVictor Southern League Premier Division Central, while Leiston are looking for only their third win of the season.

But Ford said: “Clearly the expectations are that if you are third and travelling to the bottom team, you should win the game.

“That’s not being arrogant, but that makes it even more important to go into the game fully prepared. We know we will have to play well to get anything from the game.”

Leiston are under new management, and Ford believes that will make the trip a real test.

He said: “They will have players that will want to perform for the new manager.

“It gives them added incentive, and we must be on our guard.”

Ford will include new loan signing Morgan Roberts, a wide attacking player from Northampton Town.

Roberts played against The Puritans for AFC Rushden & Diamonds in three recent matches, but after his loan spell there ended, Ford moved quickly to sign him up.

Ford said: “He will bring something a bit different to what we have, and will add some competition for places, which we need to be successful.

“We are in a good place at the moment, but we all know football can change quickly, we could speak again in two weeks’ time having lost three games, so we mustn’t get carried away.”

Lee Henderson and Gedeon Okito are suspended for Banbury.

In Division 1 Central, Didcot Town boss Jamie Heapy is pulling no punches after his side slumped into the bottom three with a 5-1 defeat at Coleshill Town last weekend.

Although Didcot bounced back with a 3-0 win at Flackwell Heath in the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup in midweek, Heapy says his focus is on points before they entertain Biggleswade.

He said: “Obviously last Saturday’s result and performance wasn’t great – it was probably the worst since I’ve been back at the club.

“Only we can get ourselves out of this mess and there can be no more excuses about pitches, budgets or how young we are.

“We need to man up, roll our sleeves up and start fighting for one another.

“We need to start winning football matches and Tuesday’s result at Flackwell will help to restore some confidence, but we need to remain positive and start picking up points.”

Seth Humphries is out with an ankle injury, while Josh Pin is also sidelined (hip).

George Nash (dead leg) and Liam Talboys (foot) are also major doubts.

North Leigh joint boss Craig Dore expects his side to bounce back when they entertain Welwyn Garden City at Eynsham Park tomorrow.

The Millers found themselves 4-1 down at AFC Dunstable last weekend, and although they battled back, still went down 4-3 to the high-fliers.

But Dore is calling for his side to return to winning ways against their Hertfordshire visitors tomorrow.

He said: “We conceded some poor goals last week from set pieces, but I was pleased with the way we fought back, but we just gave ourselves a bit too much to do.

“Welwyn are a decent side who have made a good start this season, but these are the sort of games we need to be getting points from if we are to have any play-off hopes ourselves.”

Aaron Heap returns after missing last weekend’s trip due to illness.

Thame United return after a blank week when they face Barton Rovers at the ASM Stadium.

Back-to-back 1-0 defeats against Coleshill Town and Yaxley plus a blank weekend last week, saw Thame drop to 13th, but boss Mark West says the break has given his side the chance to recharge the batteries.

“We hadn’t been playing badly in those games, but The break has probably been a bit of a blessing in disguise,” West said.

“It’s allowed us to get a few niggles rested, and the boys have trained hard and are keen to get going again.”

Jack Tutton (ankle) is still out, while goalkeeper Craig Hill serves the last match of a three-game ban.

Fred Chapman, an under 18 goalkeeper from Maidenhead, deputises for Hill and has signed terms for the rest of the season as goalkeeping cover.

Noah Alabi is back in the side after injury.

West added: “We’ve had a couple of disappointing results, but we have most players fit now, and are looking forward to the game against a tough Barton side.”

Wantage Town have signed three players as they bid to claim their first point of the season at home to high-flying Corby Town.

Samir Regrugui, Jordan Sykes and Brad Singh have joined, while goalkeeper Renell Mckensie Lyle has committed himself for the rest of the season.

They will be without Tee Manjori (hamstring), but Liam Baker is back after illness.

Kidlington host Daventry Town at Yarnton Road.
