SHABAAZ Alam produced a masterclass of big hitting as his brutal 179 almost single-handedly led Twyford to a seven-wicket victory at home to Tiddington in Cherwell League Division 1.

Will Cooper had struck a chanceless 109 not out as the visitors set a competitive 242-5 from their 50 overs.

But Twyford opener Alam had other ideas. His massive score, in just 115 balls, contained 26 fours and nine sixes as he dominated the hosts’ reply as his side cruised to victory with more than 15 overs to spare.

Didcot went top of the table after ending the unbeaten start of visitors Cumnor with a 68-run win.

Richard Underdown (66) and Pat Foster (52) helped the home side to 266-7, before Nathan Patrick claimed 5-14 as Cumnor fell for 198 in their reply.

Henry Pickford continued his batting heroics from last week as his half-century saw Abingdon Vale to a 97-run win at Buckingham 2nd.

Vale set 241-9 in their 50 overs, before part-time spinner Tim Chilvers took 5-27 and left-arm slow bowler Paul White 3-15 from ten overs as Buckingham were all out for 144.

Shipton-under-Wychwood’s sorry start to the season continued with their fourth straight defeat, going down by six wickets to visitors Long Marston.

Tanuj Chopra struck 102 in Shipton’s 213-8, but the hosts’ bowling frailties were shown again as Long Marston eased to 215-4.

Westbury’s top-flight struggles were further compounded as they fell to a four-wicket defeat at home to Great Brickhill.

Brennan Gough hit 94 and Olly Tice 66 in Westbury’s 243-8, but it was not enough as Brickhill eased to 247-6, Garth Davson top-scoring with 62 not out.

Joe Fox smashed 122 as Cropredy maintained their 100 per cent record to top Division 2 with a crushing five-wicket win at Leighton Buzzard.

The hosts amassed 285-8, Tom Light hitting 97. But Fox’s ton saw the visitors home.

Aston Rowant 2nd were far too strong for Minster Lovell, cruising to a nine-wicket win.

They skittled their hosts for just 129, before Thad Cooper (54no) and Tim Morgan (53no) led Rowant home.

Banbury 2nd saw off Bicester & North Oxford by 17 runs.

James Mokler (97) helped Banbury to 269-7, then Bicester were restricted to 252-7, despite 91 from Dan Savin and 88 from Adam Stapleford-Jones.

Challow & Childrey picked up their first win, beating Wolverton by 88 runs.

Joe Harris hit 56 in their 235-9, before Ryan Gordon took 6-36 in Wolverton’s 147 all out.

Dom O’Connor’s 96 was in vain for Horspath 2nd as they fell to a 30-run defeat at Bledlow Village.

East Oxford went top of Division 3 after winning their top-of-the-table clash at Oxford Downs 2nd by five wickets.

Youngster Luke Maslen scored a maiden league century for the home side (129no) and Amin Rafiq 46 as they set 253-4.

But East Oxford reached 257-5 with two overs to spare to secure victory.

Thame 2nd defeated hosts Stokenchurch by 38 runs.

The visitors set 260-7, Christian Warwick leading the way with 59.

Jonathan Jelfs took 3-28 as Stokenchurch were all out for 222.

Sandford St Martin amassed a huge total of 320-7 to set up an 80-run victory over Great Brickhill 2nd.

Chris Thompson led the way with 75, and Tom Goffe claimed 4-57 as Brickhill were restricted to 240-9.

Robert Craze hit 71 not out to steer Oxford 2nd to a six-wicket win at home to Banbury 3rd.

And three wickets apiece for Jon Hart (3-0) and Oscar Raisbeck (3-15) saw Horley to a six-wicket success at Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts, who had been dismissed for 91.

In Division 4, Tiddington 2nd racked up a massive 372-6 to hammer Kimble by 242 runs.

Dan West led the way with 129, before Colin Bird (4-27) helped to dismiss Kimble for 130.

Great & Little Tew edged out hosts Charlbury by one wicket in a thriller.

Charlbury were all out for 235, before Toby Parker (71) led Tew to 239-9 in the 48th over.

Horspath 3rd beat Brackley by 33 runs, while Witney Mills ran out five-wicket winners at Bletchley.

Meanwhile, Abingdon Vale 2nd lost by six wickets at home to Long Marston 2nd and just have Bletchley below them in the table.

Thirteen-year-old Dylan Driscoll hit 119 as Cumnor 2nd beat Didcot 2nd by 52 runs.

Driscoll’s superb show helped Cumnor set 257-9 in Division 5, and they then bowled out Didcot for 205 in the final over.

Steve Bates scored 113 not out as Shipton-under-Wychwood 2nd thrashed Leighton Buzzard 2nd by nine wickets.

In Division 6, Westbury 2nd amassed an enormous 427-9 to thrash Sandford St Martin 2nd by 266 runs, Andrew Lees leading the way with 158.

Daniel Cook claimed remarkable figures of 6-7 to help Oxford Downs 3rd to a 57-run win over Didcot 3rd in Division 7.

Nick Humphries took 6-11 for Thame 3rd as they crushed Long Marston 3rd by ten wickets in Division 8, skittling their visitors out for just 30.

In Division 9, Dan Blakey hit 100 as Cumnor 3rd beat Bledlow Ridge 2nd by 94 runs, while in Division 10, veteran Andy Haynes hit 107 and took 5-47 as Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts 3rd beat Bicester & North Oxford 3rd by 108 runs.

Jacob Till’s 7-29, including a hat-trick, helped Great & Little Tew 2nd to a five-wicket win over Abingdon Vale 4th, but Dan Yates’s 127 not out was in vain as Minster Lovell 3rd lost by five wickets against Shipton 4th.
