OWEN Gustafson is urging Oxford Harlequins to show their true talent when they face Witney in the Oxfordshire Cup final at Iffley Road tomorrow (3.30).

The Quins' skipper knows they under-performed in last year's 19-12 victory over the same opponents and is demanding much more from his players.

Gustafson, who starts at fly half, said: "It was very disappointing last year. We have spoken a lot about it this week and the boys are looking to put it right this weekend.

"We've put in some really good performances in the league and want to bring that onto the field on Saturday.

"We want to give the supporters something back and prove that we are the best team in Oxfordshire.

"Having had a bye to the final, we really, really need to perform on Saturday. It has put the pressure on us.

"We certainly believe that we deserve to be there and want to show that."

Gustafson says Witney can cause problems, but hopes they will have no answer to their pacy back line.

"I think Witney are a very good side," he said. "We played them in pre-season and it was a very close game.

"They have got a good pack of forwards and we've got to be on our guard against that.

"We are going to have a set pattern of play, and if we can carry that out, we should be able to win.

"There's no secret to our style. We are a light, mobile side, who like to get the ball wide."

Quins are set to start with the same team that lost to Mounts Bay last week, which means James Eckert partners Dave Payne at lock.

No 8 Paddy Soper should have shrugged off his back injury.

Witney surprised many with how close they came to beating Quins last year, and captain Jez Hicks hopes they are better equipped to finish the job this time.

He said: "I think everyone is feeling confident this year. We ran them very close in last year's final.

"Last year was the first time we had been in a big final and it was all new.

"This time we can relax and enjoy it a bit more.

"One of our big problems last year was that we weren't able to kick our points.

"This year Henry Lamb has been kicking really well, pretty much since Christmas. I think that has made a big difference to us.

"It's really important to be able to take your opportunities."

Hicks added: "We are pretty strong up front at the moment. I think we'll do well in the scrums.

"We are also working well at the breakdowns and getting to the mauls."

Flanker Will Worrall is an injury doubt, so Carl Campbell is on hand to replace him.

From the semi-final team, James Lamb and Simon Chatterton replace Johnny Wheater and Jimi Collis.
