An Oxfordshire teenager died after being found 'unresponsive' at home after choking, an inquest opening has heard.

Joshua Harry Williams, 15, was discovered by his family at his home in Faringdon on September 27 this year.

He was conveyed to Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, but sadly died three days later, on September 30.

An inquest into the death was opened at Oxfordshire Coroner's Court on Tuesday, October 13, by area coroner Nicholas Graham.

The court heard that heard that hospital doctors gave Mr Williams' cause of death as hypoxic-ischaemic brain damage secondary to asphyxiation.

A statement from the coroner's officer said: "I understand the circumstances to be that on September 30, 2026, he died at Bristol Royal Hospital For Children, Upper Maudlin Street, Bristol.

"At 5.53pm that same day, Dr Hannah Hayden verified death.

"It is reported to me that on September 27, Joshua was found unresponsive at home by his family.

"He was conveyed to hospital but despite treatment he sadly passed away on September 30."

A full inquest to be held at the same court has been set for January 28, 2027, beginning at 2pm.
