A free summer activity programme aims to ease holiday pressures for parents and carers.

Home-Start Oxford, a family support charity, has launched its 2026 Summer of Fun, offering a variety of events for families with young children across Oxfordshire.

The scheme includes outdoor park sessions, imaginative play experiences, a bouncy castle morning, and a family party.

Jan Chrystal, family groups coordinator at Home-Start Oxford, said: "The summer holidays can be a wonderful time for families, but they can also bring added pressure when parents and carers are trying to keep children entertained on a budget.

"Our Summer of Fun programme is all about creating opportunities for families to get out, meet others, enjoy quality time together and make some happy memories without worrying about the cost."

While activities are designed for families with children under five, older siblings are welcome.

Ms Chrystal added: "We hope these sessions will offer something for everyone to enjoy and we can't wait to welcome families along this summer."

Sessions will take place in Witney and Rose Hill throughout the summer holidays.

In Witney, activities will be held at Oxlease Play Park and during the Oxfordshire Play Association’s Play Day at Burwell Meadow Recreation Ground on Thursday, August 6.

Events in Rose Hill will run every Friday from July 31 to August 21 at the Rose Hill Community Centre.

Home-Start Oxford supports families across Oxford and West Oxfordshire who have at least one child under the age of five, providing practical and emotional support through home visits, family groups, and community activities.
