Plans have been submitted to update the signage at a Grade II listed shop in Oxfordshire.

Nellie & Dove, a women’s fashion boutique in Deddington Market Place, wants to replace its existing black fascia with blue lettering.

A Banbury-based architecture practice has applied to Cherwell District Council on the boutique’s behalf.

Plans show a new aquamarine (Pantone 3105C) painted fascia with non‑illuminated raised lettering, featuring black faces, metallic copper edges and a white ampersand.

The shop, within Deddington Conservation Area, is said to contribute positively to the historic village centre, and the works are limited to signage only, with no structural changes or lighting.

The application argues the design is deliberately restrained, remaining subservient to the listed building while giving the business a clearer identity. It also describes the proposal as a modest enhancement.

Comments are invited until Thursday, July 23, with a decision due by Tuesday, August 20.
