Significant disruption is expected on CrossCountry train services over the bank holiday weekend, with members of the RMT set to go on strike.
The industrial action, involving train managers and senior conductors, will take place on Saturday, August 23, and Monday, August 25, with passengers being warned not to travel on Saturday, as no CrossCountry services will operate.
There will be a limited service running on August 25 from 8am to 6pm, with services expected to be extremely busy.
Shiona Rolfe, managing director at CrossCountry, said: "We are disappointed for our passengers that the RMT has announced strikes on Saturday, August 23, and Monday, August 25.
"It is hugely disappointing to not operate any services on Saturday, knowing the inevitable disruption to many of our passengers’ journeys over the bank holiday weekend.
"We are committed to reaching an agreement with the RMT and remain available to continue talks."
On August 25, there will be no CrossCountry services between Birmingham, Reading, and the South Coast, or between Leicester, Cambridge, and Stansted Airport.
Only a very limited service will run to the South West and north of York.
Passengers are advised to check journey details in advance.
On Monday, August 25, planned engineering work in the West Midlands will also impact the CrossCountry services that do run, meaning some journeys will take longer.
