A TV antiques expert has visited Henley to value residents' most treasured possessions.

David Harper, known for appearances on Antiques Road Trip and Bargain Hunt, spent an afternoon at Albert Court, engaging with residents and valuing their possessions.

The event was held at the McCarthy Stone's Retirement Living Plus development, where Mr Harper shared anecdotes from his career and valued a variety of items brought along by guests.

Mr Harper said: "I was delighted to be invited to Albert Court to meet homeowners and their guests and share my passion for antiques with them.

"I was amazed by some of the treasures they brought along and to see that they are equally as fascinated by pre-loved items as I am.

"I had a fantastic time and I really hope I’ve been able to shed some light on their collections."

The event took place following a recent surge in interest in antiques, as highlighted by a report from the British Art Market Federation.

The report reported growth of more than 31 per cent in the art and antiques market within the UK in the last decade, indicating a revival of collecting antiques.

Sam Burley, divisional sales director at McCarthy Stone, added: "The event was a huge success and our guests thoroughly enjoyed meeting David and discussing their special items with him.

"On behalf of the team and our homeowners at Albert Court, we’d like to say a huge thank you to David for making it such a memorable experience."

Mr Burley added: “At McCarthy Stone, we offer a range of activities tailored to our homeowners’ interests, from knitting and gardening to film nights and themed lunches.

"Hobbies and activities are closely linked to better brain health, increased social interaction, and reduced anxiety and stress, which is why we encourage homeowners to get involved wherever possible, helping them to make the most of their retirement.”

Guests were able to find out details of the residence options at Albert Court during their visit.

The one and two-bedroom premium apartments start from £399,950 for a one-bedroom home and £499,950 for two-bedroom homes.

There is a lounge and a licensed bistro that opens onto a patio area with outside seating, as well as a wellness suite offering beauty treatments and a guest suite to accommodate overnight visitors.

An estate management team is on-site around the clock to oversee the day-to-day running of the development and provide support packages tailored to individual needs.
