Blenheim Palace has been named as one of the most popular heritage sites in the UK.

A study by Betway analysed TikTok views, Instagram hashtags, and Google search volumes for more than 200 of the most-visited sites, with Blenheim Palace coming in in ninth.

The palace in Woodstock received 246,000 monthly Google searches and more than 200,000 tagged Instagram posts.

It is more than 300 years old and received World Heritage Site status in 1987.

It was the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill and is home to the Duke of Marlborough.

The number one ranked heritage site, Edinburgh, received 1.5 million average monthly Google searches, while there were more than 11.3 million Instagram posts using the "Edinburgh" hashtag.

Stonehenge placed second with one million monthly searches and 918,287 Instagram posts.

In addition to its high ranking in the UK, where it came in fourth, the Lake District was also placed fifth on the global list of popular natural heritage sites.

It enjoys more than 4.3 million tagged Instagram posts and 368,000 Google searches per month.

Other sites to make the top 10 included the Dorset and East Devon Coast, the Tower of London, the city of Bath and Westminster.

Joining the Lake District on the global list were the likes of the Grand Canyon, the Dolomites in Italy and Yosemite National Park.
