Cothill has announced plans to introduce co-education from September 2025.

The change will be implemented gradually over two years with the admission of girls initially focused on Years 3 to 5 with plans to have the entire school from ages seven to 13 fully co-educational by September 2027.

The girls can join as day pupils in Year 3, choosing to either remain day pupils in Years 4 and 5 or progress to be flexi or full boarders.

A girls' boarding facility is also expected to open in September 2025, providing boarding opportunities to both boys and girls.

The school's transition to co-education follows the appointment of George May as headmaster in September last year.

The appointment led to reviews of how Cothill can build upon its existing strengths while meeting the needs of families locally, nationally and internationally.

Mr May said: “This announcement signals an important new chapter in the school’s history.

"From September 2025 all pupils will benefit from the academic, social and developmental benefits of a co-educational environment.

"With an ever-growing number of our pupils choosing to progress to co-educational senior schools, the move will help to ensure our pupils are more broadly prepared for their lives beyond Cothill.

"We very much look forward to welcoming the first girls through Cothill’s doors in September next year.”

Families interested in applying for their children should contact Maria Blick, head of admissions and marketing at Admissions@cothillpst.org to arrange an individual tour of the school and a meeting with the headmaster.
