The next phase of road closures as part of major gas works in Dorchester is to begin.

Utility firm SGN is working to relay and decommission a gas main in the county town.

A road closure is already in place on Rothesay Road between its junctions with Monmouth Road and South Court Avenue. This closure was put in place on March 4 and is expected to be reopened by March 31.

The next phase will see a road closure on Maumbury Road between its junctions with Weymouth Avenue and Herringston Road. This will be in place from April 2 to April 12.

The next partial road closure will be Edward Road, between its junctions with Weymouth Avenue and Coburg Road from July 24 to August 9.

A temporary clearway will be in place on Edward Road between its junction with Maud Road and St Mary's Church on both sides of the carriageway during those dates.

Dorset Echo:

A diversion route will be signposted for each closure.
