A Blackbird Leys man has been fined for verbally abusing a copper.

Sheldon Cadogan was involved in an altercation with a police constable in Oxford on April 23.

The 28-year-old, of Ladenham Road, pleaded guilty in Oxford Magistrates' Court to using threatening and abusive behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

He also admitted to one count of possessing a Class A drug – namely cocaine – on the same day.

The magistrates issued a £300 fine and told him to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £120.

A forfeiture and destruction order was made for the drugs.

In 2013, a teenage Cadogan was found guilty of stealing a handbag and sentenced to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work.
