Enraged motorists who were stuck in a Sainsbury's car park for hours due to an accident and faulty traffic lights are trying to appeal parking charge notices issued.

Sainsbury's is urging people affected to appeal the fines.

Drivers took to social media with some saying they spent three hours waiting at the car park in Bicester last weekend after the disruption in the area.

The supermarket at Pioneer Square said customers who received a parking charge notice because of the incident on Sunday (December 3) should appeal the fine.

A Sainsbury's spokesman said: “An accident in the area and fault with nearby traffic lights affected customers leaving our Bicester store car park on Sunday.

“We are sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused and encourage any customers who may have received a parking charge notice to refer to the appeal process on the ticket.”
