The Cooper School is a co-educational secondary school and sixth form with academy status, located on the northern side of Bicester.

The school converted to academy status in 2014 within Bernwode Schools Trust, however, it continues to coordinate with Oxfordshire County Council for admissions.

Yesterday (December 5) the Aureus school in Didcot announced an emergency closure due to a lack of running water because of "problems with the water pipes".

On its website, the school said a letter was sent out to parents with full details of the closure with the school reopening today (December 6).

In a public social media post, the school also said: "We apologise for the inconvenience caused today and the late notice.

"We contacted the parents as soon as we knew we had an issue. Many thanks for your understanding."

There are currently no other reported school closures in Oxfordshire.

Schools have contact arrangements in place for when they need to close the school at short notice including parent mailing systems, text, social media, and the school's website.

Oxfordshire County Council also encourage schools to notify local radio stations to alert parents.
