A motorcyclist who died after a crash in Wallingford was 'found against fencing' by police, a court has heard.

Steven McDermott, 52, died at the scene of an accident on the Hithercroft roundabout, Calvin Thomas Way, on Wednesday, November 22.

An inquest opening heard that the IT technician, from Merthyr Tydfil in Wales, was ‘found against some fencing with his motorbike’ at about 10.47pm.

Paramedics attempted resuscitation but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

At Oxford’s Coroners Court on Wednesday, December 6, senior coroner Nicholas Graham confirmed that the death of Mr McDermott, of East End, Cholsey, is under investigation.

A resumed inquest will take place at 10am on May 8, 2024.

A tribute was released last week from Mr McDermott’s family, who are ‘devastated at the tragic loss’ of a father and grandfather.

They said: “Our world has come crashing down so suddenly, but with his strength, we will get through this day by day, if not for us, for his five beautiful grandchildren and his beautiful dog Chi that he loved so much. That is what he would want.
