A school that places an emphasis on “meeting the individual pupil’s needs” is celebrating another strong year of GCSE results.

Our Lady’s Abingdon (OLA) in Radley Road, Abingdon, has announced that 95 per cent of its GCSE results are graded 9-4, with 48 per cent graded 9-7 and 46 per cent achieved at least one grade 9.

A spokesperson for the school said: “OLA is proud of its GCSE pupils this year, who have achieved higher than the last set of GCSE public exams in 2019.

“The fact that 46 per cent achieved at least one grade 9 reinforces our ethos of meeting the individual pupil’s needs.

“Pupils achieved well in core subjects with 47 per cent of pupils achieving a 9-8 grade in English Language and 48 per cent of pupils achieving a 9-7 grade in Mathematics.”

Straight 9-5 grades were achieved by 60 per cent of pupils and one young learner, Stephen W, achieved an exceptional 11 grade 9s.

Commenting on the GCSE results, Head of the school, Daniel Gibbons said: “OLA has a diverse range of pupils, and it is a testament to the strong relationships between pupils and teachers that each and every individual is able to fulfil their potential.

“We continue to live out our core purpose of “To each according to their needs”, and we are very proud of each individual pupil and all that they achieve, both in and out of the classroom.

“All pupils at all levels of ability have performed to their potential in their GCSE exams, and we welcome them to OLA 6th.”
