A Chinese takeaway in Wantage has been given a new low food hygiene rating.

Peking Chef on Main Street in Grove, Wantage, was inspected by a food standards agency inspector on July 20.

The takeaway was given a one out five score which means that “major improvement is necessary”.

The Chinese takeaway was told improvement was necessary for hygienic food handling and the cleanliness and condition of the facilities.

For the management of food safety, the business owner was told that major improvement was necessary.

On Tripadvisor, the takeaway is rated four out five stars, having had only five reviews.

The most recent review was in February by a review called ‘Oxfordtrecker’ and they said the takeaway has a “smaller choice but all the things we tried we above average”.

The reviewer rated the takeaway four stars.

The Oxford Mail has made attempts to contact the owner for comment.
