Two women have celebrated their 100th and 101st birthdays in an Oxford care home.

Rita Wooldridge, 100, and Norah McQuillan, 101, shared birthday celebrations on August 7 to mark their momentous milestones.

Both women live at Cumnor Hill House, which is a care home in Oxford which is part of the Berkley Care Group.

A small party was hosted at the care home, and this included balloons, carrot cake and tea.

Sherrie Hume, general manager of Cumnor Hill House said:“Cumnor Hill House was thrilled to host a heartwarming celebration in honour of Rita and Norah’s momentous birthdays.

“Witnessing the joy among our residents, staff, and loved ones as we celebrated two centenarians was touching.

“Rita and Norah were delighted by the cake and balloons.

“It’s moments like this that remind us why we love to work for a care home where we have such beautiful experiences.”

Mrs McQuillan was born in Sunderland but moved to Oxford so she could be closer to her family. She spent her actual birthday with her family.

Mrs Wooldridge has been a resident of Cumnor, Botley, for 90 years and she was “pleasantly surprised” to receive a card from King Charles and the Queen.

Mrs Wooldridge also spent her milestone birthday surrounded by her family and both ladies were grateful for the support their families have provided up until their landmark birthdays.
