A drop-in session has been arranged for the public to ask questions about the proposed repair works on a bridge in Oxford.
Repair works to the Gasworks Pipe Bridge have already faced delays and Ed Turner, the city council’s cabinet member for finance and asset management, has apologised for these delays, describing them as “hugely frustrating”.
The drop-in session will provide residents with the opportunity to ask the council about the delays.
It is open to everyone and will take place at Grandpont Pavilion on Whitehouse Road on Thursday, August 10 between 10am and 7pm.

Mr Turner said: “We all want the Gasworks Pipe Bridge to be reopened as soon as possible.
“Understandably, there is a good deal of frustration at the length of time this has taken, although we know people appreciate that the project being undertaken safely and successfully is crucial.
“I want to invite anyone who has questions about the bridge works to come along to this meeting to get the answers.”

The council admitted the closure of the bridge since 2021 had caused “very substantial inconvenience” and that the reopening could not come soon enough.
The bridge is a well-used pedestrian and cycle route across the Thames which provides easy access to the centre of Oxford.

The drop-in session will provide information about the use of public space for the site, footpath diversion for the works, more about the work being undertaken and what happens next in terms of the timetable for completion.
The venue is close to the area most affected by the bridge closure.
