The five most expensive houses for sale in Oxfordshire

After taking a look at the house-buying website Rightmove, we compiled a list of the five most expensive properties on sale in the county.

Here are the top five:

Bird Place, Henley Bridge, Henley-on-Thames

Bird Place is a period property set on a 2.2. acre plot, adjoining the River Thames in Henley.

Dating from the eighteenth century, Bird Place is a two-minute walk from the centre of Henley but is equally separated from the town by the river.

It can be all yours if you have a cool £6,450,000 tucked away somewhere.

Rightmove states the house enjoys around 7,500 square feet of accommodation in total, set across three levels.

However, the house does require some refurbishment.

Bird Place has high ceilings and lots of period features, with what is described as a ‘grand’ gated driveway leading up steps to the main entrance in which the large hallway is situated.

Rightmove claims with its mixed commercial permits, Bird Place has the potential to generate between £50,000 to £100,000 in rental income per year.

Norham Road, Oxford

An eight-bedroom house described as an "exciting opportunity in prime Oxford."

Located on a corner position, the double-fronted detached period house lies in Central North Oxford and will set you back £4,500,000.

It is currently arranged as separate flats, arranged over four floors, and has proportioned accommodation of around 5911 sq ft in total.

There is scope to improve, reconfigure and develop the property further, subject to the necessary permissions.

The driveway to the front provides parking for several cars, and an additional driveway to the rear leads to the triple garage block.

Orwell House, All Saints Lane, Sutton Courtenay, Abingdon

Orwell House was designed and built by highly regarded, local designer Andrew Herring in 2007/08 and is listed for £4,000,000.

The house is modern and features an outside swimming pool, six bedrooms and gardens that won gold medals at Chelsea Flower Show in 2006 and 2007.

To quote Herring: "The design concept for this house was to create 'organic modernism', utilising natural materials including plants, water, thatch, oak and stone.

"These play against more modern materials such as glass and polished concrete with crisp, fresh, light reflecting walls and ceilings."

Broughton Hall, Broughton Poggs, Lechlade

This Grade II listed property dates back to Tudor times with later additions in 1680 and 1790.

This south-facing attached house of over 8,000 sqft is listed for £3,900,000.

The house is believed to have been part of the divorce settlement of Anne of Cleves and the historical walk to an elegant stone pavilion still runs along the boundary of the garden.

There is a tennis court, nine bedrooms, seven bathrooms and five reception rooms in a total of five acres of land.

Broughton Hall lies in the hamlet of Broughton Poggs between the market towns of Burford and Lechlade-on-Thames.

Falling Leaf, Red Lane, Chinnor Hill, Chinnor

Falling Leaf is a contemporary family home sitting on 5.2 acres, enjoying views from Chinnor Hill.

The house was completed in 2016 and will set you back £3,750,000.
