A teenager has appeared in court accused of burgling a caravan at The Highwayman Hotel.

Appearing before Oxford Crown Court on Monday morning, Jimmy McDonagh, 18, of Riefield Road, London, entered no plea to a single charge of a burglary at the Banbury Road pub in Kidlington.

Prosecutors say he broke into a caravan at the hotel on November 1 last year, when he allegedly stole £860 in cash, three gold watches, tobacco, a passport, birth certificate and a Barclays debit card.

The charge of burglary is understood to be denied. Although no plea was taken, Judge Nigel Daly fixed a four-day trial to begin on January 3 next year.

McDonagh, who was represented in court by Dana Bilan, was remanded in custody ahead of his next court appearance in October.

Cathy Olliver appeared for the Crown Prosecution Service.
