OXFORD United youngster Slavi Spasov has signed a new one-year extension with the club.

The striker became United’s youngest ever scorer in 2018, when he scored from the penalty spot on his professional debut, against Fulham Under 21s in the Checkatrade Trophy group stage.

Spasov was 16 at the time, and has spent the last two seasons on loan at Woking and North Leigh.

After signing his new deal, he told the club website: “Pre-season’s gone really well. Being injured has been tough but I feel great now and I’m excited to get started.

“I’ve worked really hard to get here but I’m prepared to work harder and show the gaffer why I deserve this contract.”

U’s head coach Karl Robinson added: “We want young, hungry players in the squad, and Slavi is an example of that.

“He’s an outstanding young man and I’m excited to see how he’ll make an impact.”
