PIZZA chain Franco Manca has plans to open ANOTHER branch in Oxford.

The popular Italian pizzeria already has a restaurant on George Street.

Now the plan is to take over an empty unit underneath the newly built EasyHotel and wedged between a tile shop and café ‘Crepe Affaire’ on Banbury Road in Summertown.

In the latest plans submitted to Oxford City Council, bosses at Franco Manca asked to install signs outside the shop.

If approved, a swinging sign will be drilled into the brick wall above the doors. It will be held in place with a black steel projecting arm and will be fitted with a low energy white warm LED light and have the lettering: ‘Fanco Manca’, ‘Sourdough Pizza’.

In the plans, developers have asked that the sign can be in place until the year 2027.

The chain is called Franco Manca after its owner Giuseppe Mascoli took over his friend Franco's pizzeria in London in 2008.

Manca means 'missing' in Italian, paying homage to the pizza chain's origins.

Franco Manca has been contacted for more information on their Summertown plans.
