A HELICOPTER crash-landed on a tennis court in an Oxfordshire village. 

Firefighters from three fire stations were scrambled to reports of the crash in Denton, near Wheatley, at around 1pm this afternoon. 

A spokesman for Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "On arrival crews were faced with a helicopter on its side in the rear garden of a domestic property.

"Its four passengers had managed to exit the aircraft and were in care of South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.

"The quick-thinking actions of the pilot to isolate the aircraft's fuel lines and battery supplies ensured this incident didn’t escalate further.

"Fire crews continued to make the scene safe so that further investigation of could be carried out."

The cause of the crash is currently being investigated by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch and Thames Valley Police. 

Firefighters from Slade Park, Rewley Road and Kidlington fire stations attended the incident together with specialist units from across Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
