CAN you remember what the streets of Oxford City Centre used to look like 20, 30, even 40 years ago?
Let us take a trip down memory lane…
High Street
The Mitre Inn in High Street at the height of the coaching era in 1825 vs in 2019. Lincoln College in High Street closed the venue that year to provide new student accommodation.
Regulars thought the pub - one of the city's oldest - would reopen once work on the accommodation was complete in 2021 but it has never reopened.
Queen Street
The Co-Op in Queen Street in 1972 vs the Marks and Spencer in 2018.
It is now next to a shop called “hotter” instead of Halfords.
