HUNDREDS of people are took part in the Pink Ribbon Walk at Blenheim Palace yesterday (15) following two years of cancellations.
The 10- and 20-mile walk, which takes place across the Cotswolds, is to raise money for breast cancer research and support.
It is one of the charity’s biggest fundraising events having raised more than £14 million since its first walkers crossed the finish line in 2005.

However the event has been cancelled for the last two years due to the coronavirus pandemic. As a result the charity hopes to see a record number of people walking today so that by 2050, everyone “diagnosed with the disease lives and is supported to live well”.
Claire Pulford, associate director and community and events head at Breast Cancer Now, said: “Over the past two years the pandemic forced us to cancel our fundraising events, including our Pink Ribbon Walks, at a time when disruption caused by the pandemic also meant people affected by breast cancer needed us more than ever.

“Whether it’s a unique venue or breath-taking views you’re looking for, this is a chance to come together with friends and family, or to walk solo, for an enjoyable day while making a real difference to anyone affected by breast cancer.”
The event kickstarted at 8am yesterday with participants wearing bright pink shirts for the occasion.
