Children at Dunmore Pre-School in Abingdon have been given gardening sets featuring trowels, spades and gardening forks.

They were also given packets of sunflower seeds to bring colour during the summer months.

Lisa Partington, deputy manager at Dunmore Pre-School, said: “The children will benefit greatly from this donation as they love being outdoors.

"We can’t wait to see how tall we can grow the sunflowers and enjoy many more learning experiences.”

The donation enables the children to learn how fun and therapeutic gardening can be as their sunflowers gain height, as David Wilson Homes hopes to inspire the next generation of gardeners to experience the joy of growing their own produce.

Dunmore Pre-School is located close to David Wilson Homes’ Kings Gate development off Wootton Road, which is set to deliver a about 200 two to five bedroom properties.

Kings Gate will bring over £2.9m of investment for primary education facilities, as a community contribution, plus £746,114 in the form of a highways contribution to the county council.
