A community charity has donated more than £90K to 17 organisations across Didcot in its first year of grant-giving.
The Didcot Powerhouse Fund has confirmed that it has been able to make grants totalling £95,508 in just one year with grants ranging from £400 to £13,000.
One charity to receive a grant was children’s reading charity ARCh.

Jane Rendle of ARCh said: “We are delighted to have received a grant from The Powerhouse Fund to help us inspire more children in the Didcot area to enjoy reading. We are now calling for volunteers from the local community and businesses to join us in our mission.
"All it takes is one hour a week each week to change a child’s life and we provide full training, resources and support and an enjoyable, rewarding experience for all our volunteers.”
The Didcot Powerhouse Fund was launched in November 2021 by local people to raise funds to support the local community.

At least 90 per cent of the beneficiaries of any grants must live in Didcot and the Area of Influence of Didcot Garden Town, including villages such as Culham, Steventon, Milton and Harwell.
MP for Didcot and Wantage, David Johnston said: “It is remarkable to see what can be achieved when a community pulls together. The grants to these organisations will enable them to achieve even more.”
