A FUNDRAISER has been set up to help cover a vet’s bill after a dog was left without the use of its back legs.

Sarah Phillips created the GoFundMe for her daughter’s eight-year-old staffie cross Tyson, who has had emergency spine surgery to remove a herniated disc.

The Oxford family faces an anxious wait to find out if Tyson will be able to use his back legs again or whether he will require wheels.

In the meantime, an £8,000 vet’s bill needs paying, although it is hoped insurance will cover £6,000 of that.

Tyson’s owner, Becca Godwin, said: “It was a complicated surgery as the disc had attached itself to the bone and all the tissue around the spine.

“We have been blessed to have him in our life, and now to be able to keep him for many more years to come. I will never ever take a day with him for granted again.

“I can’t believe the high level of support we have had, even from people who don’t know us.”

She added: “As long as he has options and is fighting, we will continue to hope and do all that we can.

“I cannot imagine my life without him or a family that he is not in, I’m not ready to lose him yet.

“We are just giving him an abundance of love and trying our best to help him.”
