A MAN has been fined more than £2,000 for travelling to Wallingford while coronavirus restrictions were in place.
Back in February, the country was divided into Tiers depending on local levels of infection rates.
Tommy Lee Coates, 22, from Austen Way in Slough, Berkshire, breached regulations by visiting Wallingford on February 1. At the time, the town was in a Tier 4 area meaning such visits without good reason were prohibited.
He appeared at Oxford Magistrates' Court on August 26 where he was charged a total of £2,026.
He was fined £1,760 and ordered to pay a victim service surcharge of £176 and costs of £90.
