An Oxfordshire man and his dog where crowned winners of Starters Cup final class at Discover Dogs in London last weekend, November 20 and 21.

For the winners, James Mclelland from Chilton, near Didcot, and his dog, Rock on the Chamray Nessie (Nessie) it was their first time at this competition.

Mr Mclelland said: “We both had a fantastic day. It was our first time at Discover Dogs and I was so pleased with the way Nessie handled the experience as she is still a young dog.” 

The Starters Cup is The Kennel Club’s premier agility competition for dogs new to agility.

Vanessa McAlpine, Events Executive at The Kennel Club said: “It’s inspiring to see potential agility stars of the future getting the opportunity to compete in front of big crowds at Discover Dogs and we congratulate Nessie and James for winning their final against so many other talented competitors.”

The top six large dogs together with the top six intermediate, six medium and six small dogs, who qualified at the Kennel Club International Agility Festival at Rutland Showground in August, took part in the final.

Run by The Kennel Cub, Discover Dogs is the biggest dog event in London.
