Students considering their next move are being invited to an open day event at City of Oxford College so they can find out more about courses and explore the options available.

Activate Learning will welcome prospective students and their families for next year's courses to its Oxpens Road campus on Wednesday, from 4pm to 7pm.

During the event staff will showcase its extensive range of programmes at both of City of Oxford College campuses - the Oxford City Centre campus and the Technology Campus at Blackbird Leys.

Ali Aarabi , who studied A Levels at City of Oxford College, said: “I’ve had a very supportive tutor who really helped me achieve what I have achieved, as well as the teachers who have always been helpful, supportive and friendly.”

There will be plenty to see and do during the open event, including:

•Meeting current students and learning more about college life

•Discovering the selection of GCSE, A Levels, business, accounting, travel and tourism, science and forensics and Access to higher education programmes

•Attending beauty therapy, hairdressing and media makeup demos in the Oxford Lifestyle Centre

•Seeing creativity come to life in tours of our art and design, media, music and performing arts facilities

•Taking part in screen printing, 3D modelling and filming activities in our media and visual arts facilities

•Discovering Rycotewood Furniture Centre and exploring exciting careers in furniture design and making

•Exploring our new state-of-the-art hospitality and professional cookery facilities, watching a practical cooking demo and taking part in Q & A session

•Testing your fitness in our sports and public services practical sessions and assault course.

Activate Learning’s specialist Technology campus in Blackbird Leys was transformed in 2016, taking advantage of an £8m investment.

This high-specification facility supports training in a wide range of technological industries, including construction, engineering, IT, computing and motor vehicles.

A spokesman for Activate Learning said: “Our staff will be available to discuss your options and plan out a learning pathway that works for you.

Careers Advisors will also be on hand to chat to if you are undecided or need expert, independent advice. Our friendly Student Services team will be able to discuss bursaries and financial support that may be available to you.

“You will be able to explore our excellent facilities, talk through all your options and even submit your application early to guarantee your place for next year.”
