PRIMARY school pupils have been donated 35 high visibility vests to help them walk to school safely.

The vests were given to children at Stanford in the Vale Primary School by David Wilson Homes for International Walk to School Month, which ends on Sunday.

Emma Dickinson, Year 1 teacher at Stanford in the Vale Primary School, said: “Lots of our young pupils walk the journey to and from school and their safety whilst doing this is incredibly important to us.

“That’s why we’re incredibly grateful to David Wilson Homes for its donation of high vis vests.

“We were thrilled to accept the vests and our pupils have used them throughout October and in the future.”

Campbell Gregg, managing director at David Wilson Homes Southern, added: “We want to ensure the pupils in the local communities remain visible now the darker nights are here and our donation has hopefully still encouraged them to safely practice Walk to School Month.

“This is a campaign we actively support each year as we endeavour to help local school children in their efforts to commute on foot, and the bag tags have proven to be both effective and practical.

“As a result of the Covid-19 crisis, it’s even more important for us to support the local schools in and around the communities we build, so we’re thrilled to have had the chance to support Stanford in the Vale Primary School during Walk to School Month.”
