The matter has been reported to police and Bicester Town Council officers are currently looking into the cost of repairing the play equipment.

The play area was recently re-opened when councillors agreed to clean and maintain it after the Covid-19 period of closure.

Town council leader Councillor Richard Mould said: “We would like to thank everyone who took the time to report the vandalism at the Banbury Road Play Area. We are incredibly disappointed these vandals decided to target children’s play equipment. It was such a senseless act of vandalism.

“The council will have to pay to repair the damaged equipment and safety flooring. Ultimately, this is tax payers’ money that we could have used elsewhere to benefit the community.”
