A pair of brothers were said to have been chased into a car wash during an ‘organised fight’ off Cowley Road.
Ionut Albastroiu, 28, and Minel Costinel Albastroiu, 26, are accused of grabbing metal poles from their car, parked in Magdalen Road, before brawling with three unknown men shortly before 2pm on Friday, October 8.
Prosecutor Clare Barclay told Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Monday afternoon that the two brothers, one of whom was injured, were then chased into a nearby car wash. She alleged the incident was an ‘organised fight’.
Appearing before the court wearing grey tracksuits, the brothers, both of Rosebery Avenue, Tottenham, pleaded not guilty to violent disorder and possession of offensive weapons. They are understood to deny the allegation they went to the scene armed or that the meeting was planned.
Chairman of the bench Helen Robins said both men would be remanded into custody ahead of a plea and trial preparation hearing on November 16.
As he was taken down, Minel Albastroiu told the bench: “I didn’t do nothing.”
