A thief was offered ‘no promises’ about the sentence he could receive, as a judge adjourned his case for the preparation of a probation report.
Jason Stanmore, 35, had been charged with robbing a man of his £900 electric scooter in Barns Road, Oxford, on August 2.
At an earlier hearing Stanmore, of Ashhurst Way, Oxford, denied the robbery allegation but admitted a lesser charge of theft.
On Thursday, prosecutor Jonathan Stone confirmed that the plea had been accepted by the Crown Prosecution Service.
Peter du Feu, defending, acknowledged his client had a ‘pretty bad record’ but asked Judge Michael Gledhill QC to adjourn the case so the probation service could look into whether Stanmore would be suitable for a drug rehabilitation programme.
Remanding him in custody until October 15, the judge said he was offering ‘no promises as to sentence’.
