A pair of drug dealers were caught with more than 50 wraps of crack cocaine.

Street dealers Nathan Madsen, 22, and Charlie Winwood, 23, were snared in Oxford on September 2 with crack and powder cocaine and cash that the authorities suspect was the proceeds from drug dealing.

They pleaded guilty the following day to possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possession of criminal property.

On Tuesday, Recorder Emily Formby QC put the case back for a month so the probation service could compile pre-sentence reports on the pair.

She warned them the fact she was adjourning the matter for reports was ‘in no way’ an indication of the likely sentence they would receive. Sentencing guidelines given to judges suggests the men are looking at jail terms between three-and-a-half years and seven years’ imprisonment.

Earlier, barrister Alice Aubrey-Fletcher, for Winwood, said her client had no previous convictions and it was ‘relatively unusual’ to see someone in court for the first time on such a serious set of charges. He was from the Telford area, although had been homeless for a few months.

Callum Ross, for Madsen, acknowledged his client had previous convictions for supplying cannabis and possession of class A drugs – but it was the first time he had been before the courts for dealing hard drugs. He led a ‘somewhat itinerant’ lifestyle.

Madsen, of Clarence Road, Birmingham, and Winwood, of no fixed address, will be sentenced on October 13.
