A 63-year-old man is still missing, despite police appeals for help.

Derek Brant, from Kidlington, was reported missing on July 23.

Mr Brant is a member of the maintenance team at St Anne’s College, Woodstock Road in Oxford.

He was last seen near St Anne’s College at about 3pm on July 24.

Thames Valley Police said he was wearing grey or beige trousers and a navy or black polo shirt when he was last seen.

He may also be in possession of a fluorescent yellow jacket which he would wear when working at the college.

A spokesperson for the college said: “Derek is a much loved member of the maintenance team at St Anne’s and has been a familiar face around the college grounds for many years.

“We are extremely concerned about him and have been in close contact with his family since his disappearance last Thursday.

“Derek had recently been experiencing some episodes of confusion, so we are particularly anxious that he may have become lost or encountered difficulties.

“The maintenance team, as well as many other college staff, are desperate to have Derek back safe and well.

“We have tried to assist his family as much as we can, circulating Derek’s details and walking routes he may have used.

“Derek regularly walked much of his route to work and was frequently seen on the Banbury Road and Woodstock Road between Oxford and Kidlington."

Thames Valley Police have received some unconfirmed sightings of a man who may be Derek in both the Kidlington and Yarton areas.

On July 30, Thames Valley Police put out a further appeal on Twitter.

Superintendent Emma Garside, Local Police Area Commander for Cherwell and West Oxfordshire, said: “If you live locally to these areas please can I ask you to check your sheds, any out buildings in case Derek may be sleeping rough in these areas.

“Of course, if he is, his appearance maybe slightly different.

“Similarly, if you have any Ring Doorbells or if you have a dash camera in your car and regularly travel between Kidlington and Oxford please do check these cameras in case you have piked up any footage of Derek.

“Derek was known to help in the local community litter picking. It may be that you have seen someone picking up litter, this could be Derek.”

The reference number for Derek’s case is 43210328398 and if you believe you have seen him call the police immediately on 101.
