A purse dipper who stole from a woman will be sentenced next month.

Carl Bleach, 31, had been due to learn his fate at Oxford Crown Court yesterday.

However, Judge Ian Pringle QC adjourned the case until August 27 after a request from Bleach’s barrister that his client have a chance to speak to a probation officer and a pre-sentence report written.

Bleach, of Kings Road Banbury, pleaded guilty at the magistrates’ court to theft by finding.

He stole a purse belonging to a woman in Banbury on May 10, 2020.

Richard Davies, defending, said his client had been homeless and addicted to drugs, but now had accommodation of his own.

Judge Pringle put the case back to August 27.
