The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games have come to a close, following its year long delay due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Team GB equaled its medal performance from London 2012, making the results their second most successful Olympics oversees behind Rio 2016.

Team GB took home 65 medals in total including 22 golds, 21 silvers and 22 bronze.

The 2020 Games were the fourth to be held in Japan, following Tokyo 1964 (Summer), Sapporo 1972 (Winter), and Nagano 1998 (Winter).

This year's Games also saw a number of new sports introduced including freestyle BMX, 3x3 basketball and skateboarding.

This year's Games saw Team GB have - for the first time - more women competing than men.

201 women (53.5%) and 175 men (46.5%) travelled to Tokyo with hopes of bringing gold home.

This Games also included Team GB's youngest ever summer Olympian.

13-year-old Sky Brown made her debut in skateboarding, a new sport for this year, and took home a very respectable bronze medal.
