A ROAD in Oxford will be closed for vehicles for more than a month as works to help reduce traffic are set to begin in days.

Oxfordshire County Council confirmed plans to close a section of Oxford Road, south of Rose Hill roundabout, for motorists while traffic calming measures are installed.

thisisoxfordshire: The work is set to begin on Tuesday and will last at least five weeks.

Traffic signs will be displayed to show when the measures are in force, with exemptions included for emergency vehicles.

The alternative route for traffic is via a combination for Eastern bypass - A4074- Grenoble Road to Sandford Road; and Sandford Road - Henley Road - A4074 - Eastern bypass.

Oxfordshire County Council issued the notice of temporary traffic order on Monday and revealed it will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed.
